Jake McPherson is an award winning press and editorial photographer based in the South West of England. He began his photography journey at the age of 14, initially engaging in community projects and teaching photography to young people. At 17, he was honoured as the South West Young Photographer of the Year and received an award from Magnum photographer Chris Steele-Perkins.
Jake pursued higher education at Falmouth University, where he graduated with first-class honours in Press and Editorial Photography. He then completed an internship with the Getty Images News Team in London and covered news stories surrounding climate change and Brexit.
He then secured a full-time position as a photographer at the news agency SWNS based in Bristol. This gave the opportunity to photograph both editorial and commercial assignments while also covering major events throughout the UK, helping to bring breaking news stories to life, across a wide range of subjects, including politicians, members of the royal family and sport personalities. Jake's work has been featured in numerous prominent UK publications, such as The Times, The Telegraph, The Daily Mail, The Guardian, and National Geographic.
